Art – 4D

Four-dimensional or 4-D art refers to time-based or dynamic artworks that incorporate the dimension of time, movement, or performance. While 2-D art has height and width, and 3-D art adds physical depth, 4-D art introduces temporal changes—such as animation, video installations, and interactive virtual spaces.

4-D Art encompasses distinct expressions:

  • Time-Based Media: Art forms in which the viewer experiences the piece over time. This includes film, motion graphics, video art, and performance art.
  • Digital & Interactive Geometry: Using advanced software (like Cinema 4-D) or algorithms to create or project mathematical representations of four-dimensional space, such as a hypercube (tesseract).
  • Immersive Performances: Pioneering studios like the Montreal-based 4-D Art expertly blend technology, human emotion, and live performance to create multisensory, time-based experiences.
